This an excellent supplement text to Ken Wilburs. It can be used as an introduction, but I think it best serves someone who who read at least one of Wilburs books. Familiarity with Wilburs vocabulary and ideas makes life easier when reading excerpts.I use this book as a quick look up reference. Sometimes a refresher, often identifying whick of Wilbur texts I'm thinking of.

This book is only a collection of excerpts of some of Ken Wilber's books, but I think it met its purpose. Out of five books I have from the author, I made a good decision to begin reading his work by choosing this one as my first one.Of course, a warning is given by the editor Kendra Crossen Burroughs in the introduction or prologue of this book by making it clear that..."despite Wilber's skill in explaining complex philosophical ideas, much of his work is written for a professional or academic audience and remains beyond the reach of more casual readers". And that's true. I don't consider myself an expert in philosophy or psychology, but I have read and studied some of the most serious and respected modern --20th century--philosophers and psychologists and I find Ken Wilber as one of the most bright and knowledgeable thinkers of present time.I enjoyed very much the readings on "Buddhism and the Stages of Development", "One Hand Clapping", and to close this book, the "Spiritual Unfolding". Wilber makes some of the most complex ideas and concepts very clear and understandable. I hope his other books, which I will eventually read, be as interesting and didactic as this one.

This is my first book written by ken wilber and I find the book an excellent summary of spiritual thoughts and ideas which he seems to have worked on his journey to build a worldview that is rational and inclusive. I would recommend the book to any one who is interested to understand various viewpoints across the religious, spiritual framework. I have been exploring the spectrum of consciousness and the book, though written in a brief summary form, is worth reading.

Ella was discovered, but too late.Detective Inspector, Charlotte West had been contacted and encouraged by her mentor to leave London and join the force across the border into Scotland. She became embroiled in solving the mystery of Ella's death which turned out to be no accident.Through twists and turns, and many possible suspects, DI West is able to untangle the mystery and 'nick the culprit'.Very interesting story and well told, but with many "strange Scottish idioms". Recommended for anyone who appreciates a good murder mystery.

This was my first in this series so I was not conversant with the relationships. It wasn't all that important, but it might have informed the story better with past cases. Really enjoyed Charlie and Munro and their separate investigations and interplay. It is a good story: two dead girls, seemingly unrelated. Someone is lying about the girl found on the mountain...aren't they? The descriptions of the girls and their deaths were detailed and informative. The writing was good: grammar, punctuation, etc. That is meaningful as bad writing distracts me. I will find another of this series, probably go back to the beginning. Love mysteries and this seems like a really good series.

The retired Munro and his hard working protege, Charley West, return in Pete Brassert's latest Scottish crime novel. Munro is starting to recognize the ravages of ageing, while Charley learns to depend a bit more on her own skills and instincts. Their buddy/mentoring/asexual relationship seems a bit weird, but does manage to work. The plot has some interesting twists and turns, but in the end seems a bit mechanical. All in all, a good read, just not top notch.

Pete Brassett is a master of mystery. His settings are always interesting, especially to someone from a hot climate like North Texas. His descriptions of the landscape are always good. This is the second book I have read in the Munro/West series. I skipped from the first (SHE) to this one, the eighth, but had no problems; they don't have to be read in order. In this one Munro is retired but still has a hand in things. His protege Charlotte West has matured and knows how to run a murder inquiry. Brassett sets the reader up and leads the clues in so many directions, that I am always amazed at the end. I can't wait to fill in with books 2-7. A fast and entertaining read.

I read one other book in this series (I usually try to avoid series). it was somewhere nearer the beginning but had no problem standing alone, as did "Rancour". Good plot, good characters, very good descriptions. Great dialog, though it might help to have a friend or two from the UK so the slang is somewhat familiar. I do believe I'll go back and read the other 5 books in the series & I can't say I've ever done that. Four stars is an excellent waiting from me. I can't remember giving anyone a five & would have given Mr. Brassett a 4 1/2 had it been available.

Recently I had found settling down to read unusually difficult so I opted for a good old fashioned detective story . I wasn't disappointed. Even though I managed to start with the las book in the series, I really enjoyed to portrayal of the characters and a good, strong storyline . So having read book eight , I am now starting at the beginning with book 1 and am looking forward to see how the main characters are developed. The book can be read as a stand alone story and is enjoyable if you get bored with series of books but personally I love the way I can finish a book at 2 a.m. and order the next one straight away.

Maybe it was just that I wasn’t paying attention at the beginnning, but I had a little trouble sorting out the characters at the beginning. I felt like I was supposed to know who they were, particularly the police. Even in a series, some character building should be done in case a reader is jumping in mid-series.

It was a good story with plenty of twists and turns but unfortunately for me there were too many characters and sub plots which made it difficult at times to follow.

The recipes are very,very basic. I was hoping for more. Pork & Beans....open 2 cans and put them in the dutch oven? Ramon noodle packets with frozen fish & vegetables added? Personally, i don't consider these recipes. I gave it 3 stars only because I realize someone made an effort to compile this book. If you have very little experience with cooking this may be what you are looking for... but if you are looking for a bit of creativity you may be disappointed. This was purchased as a gift - and unfortunately - it won't be making it into the gift bag!

It gives you good ideas on what to cook on a camping trip, it also has good recipes if you are taking the kids for an outdoor camping experience.

I've cooked many the recipes and they all turned out great and everyone loved them. The Scouts have cooked the chicken pot pie many times and the dutch oven is always emptied.

This book is incredible! Love it! Pictures of recipes are mouth watering. Great simple instructions. Made two of these recipes the first day I received it. They're Great! A Must have Book for the Dutch Oven user.

I was at a week long campout in a remote area with 20 friends, I prepared 2 meals for all using recipes from the guide. I received raves from all on both meals. Very happy with the purchase.

This book was sold to me as "used in good condition".The only thing good about this book is the actual hardback cover and back. There are NO PAGES at all in this book. It was a hardback cover and back only. ALL PAGES APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN TORN OUT.My son was so disappointed!

Very happy son. He could only find this book at his school library and had checked it out numerous times. This is one of his favorite books. In nice condition.

This is an interesting book with information about the most famous liner shipwrecks--makes for wanting to read more about them. Really interesting to read and great pictures.

This was a fantastic book with some great pictures of famous ships that sank. I especially loved the illustrations of what the ships look like while lying on the ocean's bottom, they were really well done. I also really liked seeing photographs of what the liners looked like before they sank--not just the exteriors, but the interiors as well. I've read several books now about the Andrea Doria, for instance, but this is the first to show what the staterooms looked like and the third-class bunks. I enjoyed seeing the dining room and music lounge on the Empress of Ireland, as well, and imagining what it might have been like to travel on these ships in their glory days. Some of the liners I'd heard of, but some I knew virtually nothing about. I also liked finding out what the author's theory was on the sinking of the Lusitania, since he's actually explored the wreck to try and answer this question.All in all a great book, and not just for kids. It had sufficient depth and great photos/illustrations to intrigue anyone interested in famous ocean liners, wrecks, or maritime history.

Of the dozens of language books I've used in the past to supplement my beginning language learning of several different languages, I consider this one the absolute best I've used. It was exactly what I wanted, an explanation of basic grammar, with just the right amount of examples, for a beginner in the language. Because it is not an exhaustive grammar book, and written in an extremely readable style, it is a joy to read, and extremely helpful. My learning process of late is usually a combination of starting with Pimsleur, if available, especially if the Unlimited app is available, and later supplementing it with LingQ, italki tutors, (insert language)Pod101, JTLanguage (disclaimer--I wrote this one), TPRS books, and whatever good teachers or material I can find on YouTube. It's frustrating that some sources like Pimsleur expect you to infer the grammar, so this is a great resource to let you go back and actually understand better what you were supposed to infer. I see that there are other "Everything Essential" books. I'll check them out. It would be nice if Mr. Swick, for other languages that he doesn't have expertise in, could supervise others who do to create books in this same style and format, as he obviously has the know-how for it.

This 2013 Book clearly presents the basics, such as German pronunciation, the four cases, common verb tenses, modal verbs, separable prefix verbs, adjective endings, indirect objects, word order, numbers, and subjunctive.This is a succinct first German book good for self-study.Type size and good paper are very readable.Book is 5.25 inches wide, 8.5 inches tall, and .75 inch thick, with 256 total pages.Book has Answers in the back to its exercises.Book has good coverage of basic information in a readable, fast format, using explanations, sentences, exercises, and tables where useful.

Essentially, the text of this volume is good and very helpful. Thus far (not finished yet) I would give the writing 5 stars. However, the paper qualityis near to being newsprint and the the print itself is way too light. They must have been saving the ink for something else.If you get the book cheap, it is worth it but the exact same volume in hardback with readable type and good paper would be great and very useful. Too bad the author used cheap materials for his book. Three stars is the best I can do.

This explains a lot of the grammar encountered in the German language in easy to understand language. The clues for determining the gender of nouns is great.

Great price, fast delivery, BUT this is NOT a good textbook. Good for learning rules, but not for learning a language. I am a retired teacher who's taught Spanish and English as a Second Language.

I appreciated the author's approach of comparing characteristics of the English language with that of German, so the new grammar and vocabulary did not seem so unusual. I also liked the conversational style which made for easy reading.

One of the better German books I've had to work with.

The book itself is succinct while giving really good tips on details that are unclear about the grammar, and putting it in a way that's easy to understand. Each section is peppered with small exercises.However, I first saw this in a bookstore before ordering it from amazon. The paper quality in the store was much better, thicker that would withstand writing and erasing several times. The book I received has a cheaper paper that will wear out quickly, so note that if you plan to write in the exercises rather than using separate paper.
