When I first heard that publishers rejected this book for being too “unbelievable,” I wondered what on earth that could mean. As I read the book, that wonder turned into amazement. These chapters could be chapters from my own life; the inner thoughts of the teenage characters are straight out of my high school journals. Perhaps the idea that people could be so preoccupied with the will of God seems unbelievable to some. But if you want to understand millennials who grew up in devout Catholic families, I testify to the veracity of the reflections in this story.There are two main forces driving the main characters: the universal human question, “What do I really want?” and the equally strong but less universal human question, “What does God want for me?” As the characters grow in age and experience, these questions permeate every moment of the story.For me, the quintessential point is when the question is asked, “Isn’t discovering our life’s calling, supposed to be the most joyful thing?” From experience, it is not joyful always. And immediately after the question is asked, the characters go through a time of hurt, awkwardness, and frustration. This chapter was painfully real to me. The injustice of heartbreak, of missed opportunity, of what could have been, of bad timing, these are feelings that I, too, was having in 2009. During times like this, that second human question, “What does GOD want from me,” seems to add more frustration to an already messy situation.And yet, the overall theme of the book is not the frustration of bad timing, but the comfort of knowing that, in God, all things work together for good. And while the authors both talk about God bringing glory to a painful situation, I think it’s important to note that the choice to allow good things to come from a painful situation comes from the authors themselves. God’s will is not portrayed here as a magic potion that turns bad into good. Rather, God’s will is what happens when good people choose joy and love over resentment and anger.“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

This is a must read for young Catholics and anyone with a passing interest in a gut wrenching, heartfelt, and astonishing true story about young love and finding God's path.I wasn't quite prepared for what I would encounter reading a memoir about a couple who didn't end up together (one became a priest and the other married someone else). To my great delight, this is a raw, honest, charming, and absolutely delightful read. Any pretense of a message takes a backseat to effective storytelling and a deep probing of the human heart in all its complexity. It's an effortless page-turner that will stir up emotions you didn't know you had, and leave you feeling like you have new friends by the end.Get one for yourself, and get extra copies for friends and family!

This book was a joy to read. The feelings of infatuation, disappointment, love, and expectation that were so much a part of my own high school experience were echoed in Amanda and Fr. Matt's story. It gave me an opportunity to reflect on my own high school relationships, with girls and with God. I especially enjoyed hearing the same events, the same conversations, described by both Amanda and Fr. Matt.However, as enjoyable as that was, I think the real value of this book rests in how it presents genuine love and intimacy. We've come to associate these things with romance and sex, but Amanda and Fr. Matt show how love and intimacy can also be present in friendships. Their story shows how the love between friends can draw the best out of us, can make us better people, can make us holy. When God Wrecks your Romance is a refreshingly honest and messy window into the joys and struggles of love and friendship.

A love story unlike any other! It will make you smile, laugh and cry tears of joy! For those in the same situation, it will help you find peace and gratitude to Our Blessed Lord! Highly recommending this book for all! Thank you Amanda and Fr. Matt for sharing your story!

Then they realize there is danger and palace intrigue. Can they come out on the right side of the intrigue? Can they find a way tobond with peace since they may be mates? Can they resolve the death of the King? Great story. Very nice characters. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

Omega Bloodlines: a paranormal mpreg romance by Kaia Piercez is a wonderful story to read. Isaac Asimov's Second Foundation completes the original Foundation trilogy. With the first Foundation regaining itself after book 2, a cabal seeks to uncover the mystery of the second Foundation. Advancing science has uncovered evidence of subtle neural manipulation that suggest second foundation influence. Plans are made rifle the data locked away in the Mule's former palace. This leads to megalomania on the part of the Kalgan ruler (the Mule's former stomping grounds) to make a power play against the Foundation. A young girl gets in on the action through the actions of her father and stowaways to Kalgan and eventually spends time on Trantor as war brakes out between Kalgan and the Foundation. The first Foundation's worst fears seem to come true with evidence of second Foundation tampering with minds of the first. Eventually the masterplan is uncovered and Hari Seldon's trajectory seems back on course.As with book 2, the scheming of the second Foundation is discussed, although the details are not revealed until the end, but everything hinges on probabilities and formulas embedded in Seldon's original work. At the heart is the notion that if people believe an invisible hand is guiding them, then they tend to become too complacent for their own good.

Asimov's "Foundation" series eventually grew to consist of six books, but it started out as a trilogy, with this as the third and final book. (Sort of like "Star Wars". Maybe there's a lesson somewhere in that.) The three main "Foundation" books may stand as Asimov's finest work, but, wherever you stand on that, they certainly qualify as top drawer classic sci-fi. A nice go to when you need an Asimov fix.

I read this as a boy, and was amazed. Read it just now , the 4 book series, and still am. Sweeping through time and space Isaac , Doctor Asimov, weaves a fascinating tale of the future, viewed from an even more distant future. Sympathetic characters, a collection of intricately pictured imaginative worlds combine to tell a masterpiece. Should Rome come to mind, it would not be an accident, btw. Have read almost all of Asimov's books, and can not get enough!

Plagued in our day with violence by religious fundamentalists, and political extremists with "revolutionary" agendas, Asimov's foundation trilogy is well-worth reading, despite being "dated" in some ways. I see that he was struggling with what fundamentalist "millenarians" mean for us. There is certainly their explicit power agenda, which is obvious and may be extremely difficult to overcome, as indicated by the first foundation. Seldon's plan is the millennial, one must say quasi-religious, creed partially hidden in the background, and defended by the "propaganda" tool, the second foundation. Asimov presents this organization almost as a cancer that has a deviousness that makes it almost impossible to overcome, but perhaps not too omnipotent that it cannot be countered and controlled to a certain extent. The three novels, overall, have their clumsy spots, and Asimov is not one of the great creative geniuses, with respect to fiction-writing. Thus, there is much about which one can heap criticism. However, the totality of the effect of the novels (Foundation, Foundation and Empire, and Second Foundation) is one of startling brilliance. While perhaps not in the pantheon of great fiction writers, Asimov has created in this series what must certainly be something of compelling intellectual interest, and ranks easily among the best science fiction I have read.

We see her grow from a young girl who spends her happiest days playing and exploring the world around her with her friends and helping her mother with her younger sister. Her closest friends "jumping Fish" (her brother) and "Falcon" are her constant companions as they grow up day by day from children with not a care in the world, to young adults facing the world around them. Her relationship with Falcon changes as they grow older as well.From friendship grows love and they vow to be married one day when the time is right and Falcon has proven himself to be a man and worthy of marriage. To the three of them, life cannot be better, their threesome will stay close with the marriage and they will not have to part. Falcon prepares for his first hunt and with his return, plans to ask for Echo in marriage, a plan that seems perfect to all three of them.All seems happy and carefree for Echo until the day she happens to be in a place where a child falls from a high mesa and she catches it nimbly in her outstretched arms. From that day forward, her life changes in ways that she never dreamed possible....and all because she saved the life of this one child. For the child she saved is a child who belongs to the priest's and their group who live high on the mesa. Sadly they realize the futility of staying and one by one they move on leaving those who are too sick or old to stay and die where they lived. Echo stays behind caring for and burying those who die, as she feels she must do for her tribe. Her husband grows more ill as the days go by until he too passes on and Echo is left to bury her husband by herself. It is Echo's footsteps that are then the last to leave the mesa and all the memories it held for her people.After reading this, I found myself thoughtful, wondering if in fact this could have happened to the people of Chimney rock. I wondered if perhaps they, like the people in this book, slowly realized that though they had a wonderful city built on the mesa, that it no longer met their needs, and beautiful or not, they must move on to survive. I would highly recommend this book for young readers of all ages. It is filled with thoughtful moments, historical references to the lifestyle of Echo and her people and realistic characters as well. It is a book rich with meaning and thought provoking situations. This book is one that would make an excellent addition to any home or classroom library and one that is well worth the price. It is a wonderful way to look at the life of Native Americans and to see all aspects of their life in an easy to read and understandable manner. The reader is at once swept back in time and learns about an America that existed well before 1492. I am sure that this book will find itself in the hands of many middle school students and teachers who want to learn more about this period of history-and read a book that is of the same quality as Scott O'Dell's great novel Island of the Blue Dolphins.

When I was younger I read ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHINS, and it became my favorite book of all time to this day. Never before have I found a novel to compare to that one, until now. About the Author

Fiona Danks did a degree in Ecology at Edinburgh University followed by a PGCE in Rural and Environmental Science at Bath College of Higher Education. She worked in environmental education for a number of years, first for the Shropshire Wildlife Trust and then for the Berkshire Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, organizing training for teachers and taking groups of children out to nature reserves and other wild sites. She then went on to write books about the Chiltern Hills and the Cotswold Hills while working part-time running activities in a pre-school nursery. She currently runs the Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment, a non-profit making company providing grants for a wide range of community and environmental projects across Oxfordshire. Fiona lives in Watlington in Oxfordshire. I received my book today, and I was really excited because I am a teacher and we are doing a week on sticks. I was very disappointed when I opened the book and the pages began to fall out right away. I thought I could handle the pages falling out, because I am flexible, but then I noticed that most of the pages were cut too narrow for the book itself and words were cut off and pictures were cut off. I will be sending this book back and I don't think I will be ordering another because my week on sticks will be over by the time I could even receive a new one, and then I'd be worried that it would be in the same condition.

I bought this for my nephew who is 3. He is enjoying it, but it's better for for kids a little older than 3.

I ordered this book because my 16 preschool children and every child I know loves playing with sticks. The book was all I expected with activities using sticks, clear photos, and fun. Well worth the money.

My granddaughter loves to collect sticks and rocks. She loves this book. She has marked almost every page for projects to make.

I really like this book. It is very creative and helps a parent to take their children back to simpler, less materialist values. I gave it to my son who has two children. I hope he'll use it.

My boys love this book and spent a great deal of time pouring over the pictures when it arrived (finally). They are looking forward to getting outside to find more sticks and start a project!

My grand babies enjoy being creative. They live where there are lots of sticks.

This is the book I was hoping for when I bought "The Plot to Hack America". Of course, at the time, Nance had much the same thesis he does here--and he was speaking out when no one else (at least not in the media) was saying it. But then, in 2016, he didn't have that much to go on--some history, the U.S. intelligence statement in October, the various news reports and events showing Putin and WikiLeaks acting in ways that helped Trump and hurt Clinton, and his own instincts and analysis as a long-time intelligence officer. "The Plot to Hack America" was a book unlike anyone else's in the fall of 2016, but now he knows so much more, and can put the details and patterns together.And, unlike so many others writing on this subject (some currently on the best seller lists), Nance is not hesitant to say what he thinks the connection is between Putin and Trump and how it changed the 2016 election.The material is complicated--so many people, places and events to keep straight--but Nance writes well and lays it all out clearly--including the motivations he believes exist for the main actors. Agree or disagree with him, any reader should appreciate how Nance doesn't mince words. Here, for example, are the opening two sentences of Chapter One: "On November 8, 2016, Vladimir Putin became the first Russian President of the United States. What could arguably be called the greatest intelligence operation in the history of the world had been executed and the result was that the candidate Moscow had supported had won."That's pretty bold. What follows includes explanations of cyber warfare, Putin's efforts to undermine democracy in other countries as well as the U.S., Trump's leadership and character failings, Nance's view that the central idea of the Steele dossier (that Putin "has" something on Trump and is using it) is true, the many threads indicating conspiracy between Trump and Putin in 2016, and Putin's long range goals. For me, Nance filled in many things I wanted to know about, including what has happened in Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union--and how it's led to the rise of Putin, the former head of the KGB, as the autocratic president of non-socialist, non-democratic new Russia.Despite Russia's weakened economy (Russia really shouldn't be part of the G7, for example), Putin is making every effort to make it a major player on the world stage again (now, per Nance, succeeding more than ever with Trump's apparent cooperation). In two decades, he has consolidated his power and is now dealing with his 4th U.S. president although with a distinctly different relationship with Trump than anyone before him. When Putin told Trump to "meet in the Oval office with Labrov and Kislyac" last year, Trump did it. It was the first time they were allowed in the Oval Office since Russia invaded Crimea in 2014. Trump did it in secret, and made sure no U.S. reporters were present. Americans learned about it from the Russian photographer (spy?) who was allowed in.Trump admitted last month after the North Korea summit, that it was Putin who had told him to cancel the U.S. military exercises in Korea. Trump even told Kim Jung Un he would do it before he told U.S. officials, including the Secretary of Defense. He and Putin have met alone before, without even a U.S. translator present, only a Russian one. Trump and Putin have private talks frequently by phone, per Trump, that are undocumented. They plan to meet alone again at the summit in Helsinki. Presidents don't do things like that, so Americans should really wonder, "Why?".Reading "The Plot to Destroy Democracy" makes you wonder if there's a larger agenda here. In Nance's view, Trump often pushes Putin's doctrine and goals, whether it's an overly friendly and trusting message to North Korea's dictator or a hostile one to our NATO allies. It's something to think about, as the news unfolds before us. Was there--is there still--a relationship between Putin and Trump that is not healthy for our democracy?A less ambitious book might be easier to follow in parts, but Nance brings you up to speed on both the details and the "big picture". The Mueller investigation (here, hardly a "witch hunt" or hoax) is likely to add more indictments this summer--and trials are beginning soon. Americans need to understand what Russia did in 2016 and look at what this administration is doing now. In 2016, Russia attacked a United States election over months, in a number of ways, including hacking and weaponizing stolen information; attacks on databases and voting systems; and massive disinformation campaigns through social media. They haven't gone anywhere, and it makes sense they'll work to get Republicans in office again using these and whatever new tactics they've developed in the last two years, with greater access to government.With an election coming again this November--and, reportedly, no more protection against Russia's attacks on American democracy than existed the last time--this book could not be timed better in sounding an alarm.

It is well worth reading or listening to his sober assessment of what is at stake. The breadth of knowledge in historical context and current intelligence illuminates with startling clarity the nature of the hybrid warfare by the Vladimir Putin’s Russian Federation on our democracy and other liberal democracies to overturn the current world order.Some complain his use of news articles as sources and that his conclusions are merely conjecture. First, he is referencing information sources you are able to review, but has behind it corroborating confidential and classified sources. You can also easily research his historical references and cross reference them with various credible sources as they are accurate. Also, do you really think he would have a distinguished thirty year career and then depart into fantastical hyperbole? As a retired military officer, I don't think he would depart from his oath to protect and serve with misinformation and he would be shunned and publically condemned by our intelligence community with who he is closely affiliated.These intelligence assessments aren’t just his musings and suppositions through information he read in the Steele dossier or op-ed pieces. Again, we’re talking about his connection to a large intelligence apparatus with vast amounts of intelligence procured and analyzed by career agents and international partners with analysts reviewing the intelligence at several layers. They must follow department procedure of review and certification to discard unsupported information to get the most accurate and actionable intelligence. The security of their operations abroad, the lives of their agents, and the very future of our country depend on this careful scrutiny and evaluation. It think their lack of transparency and dearth of information regarding their methods and operations will naturally foster distrust, and I have my own feelings we can't entirely trust them regarding our privacy.That said, their tireless duty in maintaining our national security is not in doubt and in that domain they have our best interest. Putin interfered with our election process, who is a menace to our democracy and the remaining true democracies in the world. I fear that his social engineering through misinformation and our lack of discernment to separate fact from various counter-narratives to sow confusion and animus has been successful. I know people who have gone back to their home towns who suddenly find themselves dealing with animosity instead of the hard-won common ground of time and understanding. It is disturbing to see the resurgence of the naked hatred of the other displayed so prominently. The United States as a divided nation and the dismantling of post World War II international liberal democracies will usher in a new and truly hideous world order. It is on the order of many countries losing their freedoms, many people being imprisoned and tortured, and the untold deaths in the world conflicts of the future. There is hope, but we must first listen dispassionately and attentively to the warnings and what we can do to counter it. It starts by reading and analyzing the information expertly detailed in this most important book by Malcolm Nance.

I am a horror fan and this book is more frightening than any other book I have read. AND IT"S TRUE and happening right before our eyes. I use to think trump was a dotard, but after reading this book I can see how he is working purposely to destroy America. His tariffs, immigration policies, the way he treats our allies and the UN--it all leads to destroying democracy. What makes this even more disturbing is the only reason trump is doing all this is to enrich himself and his family. We already know trump is a man without morals, but this is as low as a person can go. You can see how and why the republican party is complicit in his plot. According to polls, only 27% of Americans identify with the republican party, yet they are ruling our country. They are doing anything to make sure they stay in power and trump with his Russian allies are what they are using. Malcolm shows what I had suspected- that the NRA and evangelicals are a big part of this plot. This is a must read for every American that loves America. This is a must read for every person who claims to be a patriot.One point I would like to add: trump seems to be really bothered by the fact that the only way he won the election was to cheat. That's why he keeps bringing it up. Same way he says he never pays for sex. He seems to be bothered that people don't actually like him and find him disgusting--hence all the rallies. It's a weakness that is easily exploited by the Russians.
