I’m glad to see Blaze and Phantom again. I just can’t get enough. And now their kids are a hot mess. The jokes keep coming. Spark though is a piece of work. Selfish as they come. Darryl is a stand up young man. We need more of them out here. My favorite part is when they all went back to Blaze’s house for the birthday party. Had me rolling. I would definitely recommend this book and can’t wait for the next part. Latoya Nicole you haven’t failed me yet. Congrats on another number 1.

Now I never expected this. These two families already crazy apart but to bring them together is just crazy. I loveee it though. The jokes are my favorite for real. The journey Spark and Lil Darryl are taking is a sight to see. I always loved reading about the kids all grown up. Spark is super crazy but so is Lil Darryl but I love the way they are with each other. Of course the two friends are haters but it always is. That ending was crazy thhoug!!!

You always surprise me. The cliffhanger ending got my head spinning. I laughed from the beginning to the end. Can't wait for part 2

I swear I will never get tired of reading about a Hoover or Phantom....but to be a hundred percent on point with this review......i wasn't expecting that at all...... It crazy cause normally the spins off don't be as exciting but Latoya manages to pull it off EVERY time... When I say I dan near died laughing I'm really not bullspitting.... I was eating and almost choked laughing......it was hilarious... The only thing I didn't like was close to end Spark character started to seem like the witch nobody likes...... the one that traps a figga and think that a baby will keep him.... Yeahhhhh didn't like that.... Had so much higher hopes for her and it was pretty much need met until that point... And don't blame me for the words u don't know I'm saying cause I cant cuss in a review.....they deny that hit quick... So figure it out!!!!!!!

Latoya you did it again!!!! This book had me on edge from page 1.....Man Baby Jesus is a hot mess but a lovable sweetheart too just like Black Jesus!!!! Dang it if Spark isn't just like Zee bae lolol!!!! She plays no games with anyone!!!! That heffa Lena better keep a prayer in her pocket because I can see that her jealous sneaky pusxc behind getting more than her power lips burnt!!! Urghhhh her and that dude are just weak af!! I can't wait until part 2 man!!! I'm glad Blaze came back with Spark because she wouldn't have been in the right mind to see the clue!!! This is why I love you lol. You wrong for that ending though but baby this book had me laughing from beginning to end. Blake and Phantom don’t have no sense at all and the kids are just like them lol. I am in love with Spark and Darryl. I knew Lena was gone be a problem from the beginning of the book but I didn’t know she was that trifling. I can’t wait to see what’s gone happen to her. All I can do is shake my head at Jay, like why is he there lol taking up space. I can’t wait till part 2 and you know I never read anything that is not finished but baby you bringing Blaze and Phantom back lol I had to read. My bae got mad skills.

This book wrecked me.Ignore the negative comments and negative reviews. What interests me most about those reviews is that this book is all about grace and the people leaving negative reviews still miss the point. They don't give grace on what they disagree with.Phillip Yancey's use of stories and modernized parables help paint a picture of grace that, if I'm honest, I knew already...but I never really envisioned. This book and the idea he presents are both game changers for the Christian community, and in our society today it couldn't be more relevant.Read this book. Buy this book. Live this book.

This is the fifth book I've read by Philip Yancey, and they've all been sizzlingly alive and inspiring. Many types of Christian books annoy me: they're either heavy-handed and doctrinal, or simplistic and trite. In contrast, Yancey stands on the same scruffy ground the rest of us stand on, and he tells stories about people we might know or might be. Sadly, the history of the Church contains much ungrace, which has driven and still drives people away from Christ. Yancey says, "...the Gospels make clear the connection: God forgives my debts as I forgive my debtors. The reverse is also true: Only by living in the stream of God's grace will I find the strength to respond with grace toward others." Yancey also points out the danger of mixing politics and religion. Though the book was published in 1997, it rings hauntingly true today: "...while a coziness between church and state may be good for the state, it is bad for the church....The state which runs by the rules of ungrace, gradually drowns out the church's sublime message of grace." Yancy has the courage - and the humility - to stare straight-faced at both church and society and describe in plain English what he sees, and why God cares.

Trans-formative. I thought I knew Grace but I did not. This book is thorough. It could almost have been a lot shorter of a book but the stories in it do make it for an interesting history lesson also which I am enjoying. I have to say this book is transforming my paradigm about being a Christ follower, being an effective father of 2, loving husband, and as a community leader. Philip Yancey was a recommended read from a friend - and I have pretty much decided I like is writing style and what comes across as honesty to himself about his own life and the experiences he has had trying to follow Jesus' teachings himself.

This is one of the most inspirational books that I have ever read in my life and if you're looking for God and Grace this is the perfect book to explain and help you grow in HIS outstanding love for you and I.Highly recommended as a self read or a gift for someone going through a hard time. This book was so beautiful that (despite hording all of my favorite books) I couldn't help but pass it on.

This book came highly recommended by my wife and from a member of Peace Church. Yancey says that he would rather convey grace than explain it, which is why he writes with stories rather than syllogisms (Yancey 1997, 16).There are certainly a lot of stories in this book. Part one is about the sweetness of grace. Yancey tells the story of Babette, a woman who served as a housekeeper for twelve years for two sisters, Martina and Philippa. The sisters had lived difficult, graceless lives. Babette wins the lottery, and the sisters fear she will leave. But Babette spends all the money on a lavish French feast for Philippa and Martina and their guests in honor of the anniversary of their father's birth. Grace came to them in the form of a feast and in the form of a loyal friend (Yancey 1997, 19-26).Yancey tells the story of Peter Greaves, who was angry at God and life because he contracted leprosy while stationed in India. But he testifies that he experienced grace through music while at Bible college. He played piano for hours on end. He also experienced grace through the beauty of nature, as he walked through pine forests, watching dragonflies and flocks of birds. He then experienced grace by falling in love and these experiences gradually led him back to his childhood faith in Christ (Yancey 1997, 40-42).Yancey also tells a modern day version of the prodigal son story, where a teenage girl runs away from her home in Traverse City, Michigan. She heads down to Detroit, gets into drugs and prostitution to make ends meet. But she misses her family. One day, she writes her parents and tells them that she will be taking the bus home. She arrives at the Traverse City bus station at midnight. She is shocked to discover her family and about forty other relatives waiting for her, wearing party hats and saying "Welcome home!" She hugs her dad and tries to apologize, but he says "There's no time for apologies. We need to get home and celebrate. There's a big banquet waiting for you" (Yancey 1997, 49-51). That's grace.Part two deals with breaking the cycle of "ungrace." Yancey tells stories of people who lived bitter, miserable lives because they harbored anger and could not forgive (Yancey 1997, 75-81). Yancey says that we should forgive because forgiveness offers a way for us to start broken relationships over and to heal the hurts of the past (Yancey 1997, '98-99). He tells the story of Jean Valjean, the French prisoner from Les Miserables, whose life was transformed by grace (Yancey 1997, 101-2).There is also the story of Rebecca, whose clergy husband cheated on him with a woman named Julianne. She was bitter, but she phoned them one day and "I choose to forgive you." Years later, Julianne phoned Rebecca to say that the man had been doing the same thing to her and she needed someone to tell. The women got together, and Rebecca led Julianne to Christ, and they became friends (Yancey 1997, 104-6). That is grace.The rest of the book is in the same vein, pictures of grace, mixed with the occasional picture of ungrace. The researcher has already used the Les Miserables story in a recent sermon, but this book is a veritable treasure trove of grace stories that can be mined for future sermons. But taken as a whole, What's So Amazing About Grace? was one of the most enjoyable and heartwarming books on the reading plan.

I've really come to love Haynes' "workshop manuals." They're great books for anyone seriously interested in learning more about the inner workings of historic vehicles, modern-day restoration, and insights into everyday maintenance and use.That said, this entry in the series is kind of underwhelming. There's a few nice overview diagrams of the aircraft's systems, but as a whole, it's lacking in detail. The book seems to take a broad look at the P-51, never really going into the same level of detail many other Haynes titles provide. The sections on the aircraft's anatomy, flying qualities, and maintenance are awfully basic, compared to the Haynes books on the F-86 and Spitfire, to give two examples. Many important aircraft systems are skimmed over in a couple paragraphs, while the section on post-war racing Mustangs goes on for eight pages.There are plenty of nice photographs, including a nicely done photographic essay on the restoration of P-51D 44-13521 "Marinell," and the stories of wartime P-51 pilots were interesting to read. The checklists at the end, showing every step of a 25-hour and 100-hour inspection, demonstrate how much work it takes to keep a high-performance military aircraft flying. And you thought changing your car's oil was a pain! This book would make a nice introduction to the type, but kind of falls short as a technical study. Don't go in expecting exploded views of propeller pitch mechanisms, close-ups of the undercarriage locking pins, or diagrams showing the locations of lubricating points, and you might enjoy it.

Great book, great price.

I was quite disappointed when I received the book. I was expecting something more along the lines of the Haynes car manuals. Cutaways, assembly instructions, specifications, etc. This book has numerous photos of a restored P-51 but not to anything near original.If you just want photos of a P-51, it's fine. If you want lots of details for building an accurate model, save your money.

It's an interesting addition to my library but falls short of what a P-51 Owners' Workshop Manual could have been. When you consider that a P-51 can almost be built all new today, there could have been much more detailed technical information. The book is probably aimed at a much broader audience that just wants a broad overview.

This autobiography is written with rawness, honesty and determination to deliver the real story about JR. I believe the stories are written by an iconic country music legend trying to set the record straight. Johnny Cash has a lot of questions about God, life, death, relationships, and love. He has some answers, but not all of them. He is very open about battling his addictions whether it be prescription pain killers, amphetamines, alcohol, downers or all of the above. His career has spanned numerous decades and his fan base many generations. Through it all, he has always been true to his roots and his music. Despite many music moguls telling him what type of music he should play, and how to score big sales, he stayed true to his roots. He also highlights an intimate view of his family, and shares losing a sibling at an early age. Johnny Cash is a simple man who possesses a God given musical talent which has given him opportunities that most only dream about. This is his story.

Cash:The Autobiography is a fairly good last word in the Cash story, but don't let it be the only word. Having already penned, contributed to, or given his blessing to several other books about his life, this autobiography is not the extensive, over-arching story that I had anticipated. There are several areas that Cash decides to remain silent on, or otherwise passed on making comment. Many of the highlights of his career, and his life, are similarly not addressed in this work, as a result of the existing body of writing.What the book does well is provide the finishing punctuation to his life during the twilight of his career, just in the midst of being discovered by a new generation of fans. Cash puts this in context with some stories and perspectives probably unknown to the general public regarding both his personal life and his private life. His recollection of singer Roy Orbison stands out as Cash's view of hope defeating heart ache. Rather than serving as a final tell-all aimed at sales, it is this theme of triumph over personal tragedy that makes this autobiography worthy of the investment of the reader's time. This shouldn't be the only book that one reads about Cash, or too much of the story will be lost because this book does not stand alone by itself. For someone who lived such a full life, and is such a complicated, larger than life personality, perhaps that is just as it should be.

I've been wanting to read this for a long time but am usually disappointed with biographies as they seem to leave out the human side of the story. I picked this book up last Saturday and haven't been able to put it down. John's writing is poignant, funny, insightful and weaves a tapestry that is nearly impossible to put down. I'm nearly done with the book, and honestly laughed and cried several times in the reading, would heartily recommend this to anyone that has a remote interest in Cash, Country Music or the behind the scenes life of being a musician.

Johnny Cash...the artist, singer, legend....My all time favorite artist! I used to listen on records and then was so proud to have his Ring of Fire 8 track tape! Now, it's CD's...lol I've always been an admirerer...He & June, Roseanne & Johnny's closest friends like Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and all of the rest...loved The Johnny Cash Show....I read Man in Black years ago. I really appreciated and enjoyed it. I learned things to...This one is different. Johnny's perspective as an adult...a MAN who is wise and has lived in truth...lived in faith...walked with God....This is a very intimate look into his thoughts and viewpoint....his LIFE. I think it's a must read for everyone! Get it....you will not regret it!Be blessed!

I really enjoyed this book! It was simple,real and very inspiring. I actually became a Johnny Cash fan after watching his performance on Columbo,"Swan Song" I was blown away by his performance and music and when I found this book I had to get it to learn more of the man. And after reading this book,t hat's what happened. He shares some touching stories and I just know any Johnny Cash fan will be inspired by this Icon!

An honest and revealing telling of his story, from being an unfaithful husband and a confused life to finding God and the woman, who, with her famed family, led him to sobriety. One of our greatest musical artists who teamed with others of equal talent to give us some of the greatest musical entertainment this country has ever known. He was one of America's greatest talents who had a huge heart for the lost in our society and did so much to help them up out of the squalor of their lives to healthy living, a truly great man.

Johnny Cash wrote two autobiographies. Cash takes up where his first left off. This is not an autobiography in the sense it takes the reader from point A to point B to point C in a chronolgical order. It's bits and pieces from here and there and in no real order. Little anecdotes, about the time Faron Young, during a car accident, got his tongue wrapped around a steering wheel and the strange thing is, two weeks before Johnny had said to him, "If you don't stop swearing, the Lord will jerk that tongue out of your mouth." Touching anecdote about impulsively entering a church service and sitting next to an excited boy who announced to everyone he was so certain Johnny Cash was going to sit in the same pew as him and his family. At some parts, I laughed until tears came to my eyes. I could almost hear Johnny speaking the words of the book and he has quite a sense of humor.

A good book, all in all. I'm not a big country music fan, but remember him from TV during my youth. Book is organized mostly chronological, but when its not, its hard to tell where in his life he is. Drugs really permeated his life. He also has good things to say about most people, however, when you look at his actions stated in the book, not so sure it was always as he said.

To create typographic structure that really serves people it is necessary to understand these deep structures. How all new information links to new whether that is in a sentence, a paragraph, or an article. How the beginning and ending of a piece is a natural point of emphasis, etc. This book deals with how we read, how we think, how we absorb information. All in one place. I deeply recommend it. Starting with anyone in a beginning typography class to seasoned professionals.

There's a lot of great information in this book. Unfortunately, pretty much every single time I tried to visit one of the URLs referenced throughout the book, I found that the page in question was no longer available. The author should really consider updating these (and maybe using URL shorteners in the process to make the URLs more readable). Still, great book.

This book, targeting designers, is a recommended reading for whoever wants to have an overview of knowledge in human behavior. It covers a wide range of topics in a concise way and its arguments are well supported by research. Its merit may also be its limitation: it does not cover any issue in detail. Thus, it is a good introductory reading, but design professionals and other readers ought to go beyond this book if they wish to have a more complete understanding of human behavior in all its complexity.

I liked the format of this because I could reach a section or two or three at a time and still feel like I was making progress through the book. It was useful to highlight things that come up a lot in my professional life, so I can refer back and cite some of the studies, or even just have the information tucked in my mind, so when people behave a certain way I can nod knowingly to myself and approach the situation with a little backup.

I'm only half way through the book, but I felt inclined to give some positive comments. I love the way the information is laid out in chunks, just enough for you to understand and process, regardless how technical she gets. That said, it's really great how she does go into that level of detail as far as how the brain works and what we are doing and can do with information. At the end of each segment, there is a very brief section called "Takeaways" that sums up what you just read, and I've found in a few cases, this includes things that one may or may not have gathered by reading between the lines, if you will. Whether it's to ensure that you don't miss it or simply to drive the point home, it's very helpful, clever and, I'm sure, deliberate. As a designer, it's so important that you understand your target audience, or even how humans think in general... this is a MUST BUY!

This is it - a list of 100 facts about how human brain works, with almost no linking of how this knowledge can be applied to design, or to any other area. Probably worth reading if you like collecting fun facts about everything, but it's definitely not the best book for someone who looks for practical advice on how to make their designs better.

This is a must read book for designers of any kind. Some of the "studies" and research backing the claims are questionable though. I mean, really, you could say that everyone draws a coffee cup from a canonical point of view based on many theories and studies... or you might just say that's usually the way everyone experiences a coffee cup, thus we depict it that way in drawing. But, all in all, this book presents some great reminders of principles that we know to be true but don't consciously evaluate day to day. If nothing else, you can use it as ammunition to back-up you design choices.

Great book. Written in an engaging way. The information is high level but it gives the basics so designers can use the guidelines immediately and prevents readers getting bogged down in too much science.

I was expecting a little more depth as has been displayed in other "in-universe" items. This added some new information, but glossed over much of the Spartan training information and standards I expected. It's a decent first attempt, but I feel it could have been better. As a former service member, I know firsthand how much critical and detailed information is usually contained within a field manual put into easy to follow instructions. This lacked those basic concepts. This read more like an overview than a manual.

A reference book that takes the in-universe form of a field manual given to a Spartan-IV who has been assigned to the Infinity shortly before the opening of Halo 5, it is aimed at introducing preteens and teenagers to the universe of Halo through the history of the Spartan programs while including some information on the other UNSC branches, the Covenant and its species, the Didact and the Prometheans, some human and Covenant planets, and some human, Covenant, and Forerunner weapons and vehicles.Being aimed at a younger audience, the writing is at a simpler level than what Halo is usually like. There is also the occasional annotated note from Gabriel Throne and Tedra Grant of Fireteam Majestic, some informational, some commentary, and some humorous. The pages are also filled with promotional game renders, in-game renders, renders from cutscenes, artwork from previous works like Mythos, and concept art from Halo Infinite.The Spartan Field Manual is okay. Since it is aimed at an audience that does not know much or anything about Halo and the Spartans, the vast majority of the information in the book is stuff already known to most of the Halo audience though there are a few little new tidbits, but nothing that would make the book a must-buy for establish fans. Again, this is aimed at people who are not already Halo fans.

As a US Navy servicemember and a long-time Halo fan, I just had to get my hands on this book! My expectation was to learn more about the Spartan-IV program and maybe pick up some interesting canonical information. The book did deliver some new tidbits and details, such as the ranking system, physical readiness standards, and more. However, this book was definitely written for young teens or children, so it wasn't targeted towards me. Also, the book is akin more to an encyclopedia than an actual field manual. I also noticed quite a few parts in this book are almost word-for-word copied from Halopedia articles, most notably the entry for Sangheili Generals. There are also a few image errors, such as the image for Sangheili Zealots being that of a Sangheili Officer. All in all, it was an entertaining read. If you're someone who is only interested in purchasing this book for lore, my advice is to wait for the contents to be posted on Halopedia instead.

I was fairly excited to pre-order this book; hoping it would arrive and I could gather as much new information as possible about my favorite universe. Unfortunately, the day it arrived; out of the amazon-envelope it was not covered in plastic (Not sure if it was suppose to here) but it certainly should have if it was going to receive damage before I had gotten a chance to flip through it. The envelope didn't seem to have any pressed edges, so I am to assume that it received the damage before being put inside of it. To top it off, this book almost seems as if it were written for a child. It's low-level of vocabulary matched with the fact that most of it isn't even reminiscent of a field manual and all of it's information being something easily accessible in wikipedia for years now is almost a spit in the face. I'm not sure if it was marketed towards children more so than the actual fans, but I doubt I will test the waters with these types of books again.

If you're new to Halo Lore or to the Halo Universe in general, then this book will be a great steppingstone to get you up to speed on what's going on.HOWEVER!!I've you're a veteran Halo fan such as myself, then this book is going to be nothing but 200 pages of everything you've already seen/ read a hundred times before.This book is very sporadic when it comes to its own content. It starts off by trying to look futuristic, then it will show concept art, then it goes back to data pad format, then it shows screenshots from various games, then more concept art. It's like it can't pick a theme.The information in the book is also geared towards a younger audience so you're not going to find the full in depth explanations that you would get out of other Halo guides like The Essential Visual Gide (Which is in my opinion the best Halo guide book)So again, if you're new to the Halo universe and are looking to get caught up so Halo's 4 and 5 make sense, then this book is for you. But if you've been playing Halo for years like I have, then you may want to skip over this book unless you want it for your collection. If not it's a lazily made guide full of bare bones information that you already know.

Good Book

Listen: if you are interested in Halo lore on a basic level...this book will suffice. I liked the futuristic look (this thing would have been soooooo much cooler if they actually cut the pages in that style) and the in universe asides where nice. BUT as the owner of the three DK guidebooks...the deficiencies become REAL apparent REAL quick. We missed out on definitive reference books for Halo 4 and Halo 5. This would have been the perfect place to dig into Fireteam Osiris, Majestic, etc. but all we get are teases. I'm glad I have the book because I'm a Halo fan...I just know it could (and should) have been sooooo much more. Go in understanding this and the book will serve you well.

Carol de Giere has done it again. She has served up a second edition of her book, "Defying Gravity". Stephen Schwartz doesn't rest on his laurels, and apparently neither does de Giere. "Defying Gravity" chronicles the major works of Stephen Schwartz, beginning with his first hit show, "Godspell". (if you are a "Godspell" fan, you should definitely check out deGiere's previous book, "The Godspell Experience: Inside a Transformative Musical" as well.) The book gives great details and insights into Schwartz's creativity and passion for musical theatre. The previous edition ended with the creation of "Wicked", but the second edition goes even farther since "Wicked" has become a worldwide phenomenon There is a fascinating story about how Wicked needed to be translated into other languages and cultures where the movie "The Wizard of Oz" is not a part of the cultural landscape. The "Wicked" updates in the Second Edition make the book worthwhile by themselves.The new book goes into Schwartz's current writing, including his adaption of his animated film "Prince of Egypt" into a full blown stage musical. If you are a fan of modern musical theatre, or better yet, a fan of Stephen Schwartz, I highly recommend this book.

I read the first edition and was impressed with both the approach and details of the writing, so I was interested to know more about what Stephen Schwartz had been up to since WICKED. It was like reading an entirely new book! Chapters from the first edition have been both expanded (e.g. since the 1st edition, PIPPIN has enjoyed a wildly popular, reimagined production that was a hit on Broadway and on tour; the new chapters reflect this new life of a beloved Schwartz musical), and are now more focused to allow for all that has happened in Mr. Schwartz's creative career to be incorporated without over-expanding the length of the book.Ms. de Giere has done a masterful job of making Mr. Schwartz's creative processes and works come vividly to life, and nowhere more so than in her extraordinary coverage of the creation of WICKED, from its virtual inception to its triumphant bow on Broadway, becoming one of the most successful and beloved musicals in Broadway history, and which has just celebrated its 15th anniversary.Ms. de Giere was also quite fortunate in that her subject happens to be very forthcoming and forthright about his own creative process. This is Carol De Giere's revised and updated second edition of Defying Gravity, an in-depth look into the fascinating creative career of Stephen Schwartz, (Godspell to Wicked). A huge plus is a very interesting Forward by Alan Menken, of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin fame, who collaborated with Stephen on Disney's Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.Carol has infused wonderful photos, interesting commentary, creativity notes, and comments from Steven Schwartz throughout the book. So many interesting behind the scenes stories to enjoy! I highly recommend this book!

This is one of the most thorough, yet entertaining books I have read, about a subject I love. Not only is it a Stephen Schwartz biography, but it manages to be a well rounded and interesting portrait of the musical theatre gems he has had the good fortune to have been responsible for crafting. In other words....shows we love. You will learn history and inside facts. I found it hard to put down. There is nothing dry here. It sings. Well, you will sing, as you recall some of these shows. Get this book. I am getting it for friends who also love theatre.
