MUSHROOM & GRUYÈRE TART WITH HAZELNUT HARICOTS VERTS All-purpose flour, for dusting 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (half of a 17.3-oz/490-g package), thawed 5 ounces (155 g) Gruyère cheese, shredded 2 leeks, trimmed, halved lengthwise, white and pale parts thinly sliced ¼ lb (125 g) white mushrooms, brushed clean and thinly sliced 4½ tablespoons (70 ml) olive oil Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water ¾ lb (375 g) haricots verts, trimmed ¼ cup (11/4 oz/40 g) hazelnuts, roughly chopped   SERVES 2–4  1 Preheat the oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.  2 On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the puff pastry into a 121/2-by-15-inch (32-by-38-cm) rectangle. Fold into thirds, transfer to the prepared pan, and unfold, positioning the dough so there will be room for the haricots verts on the pan. Fold over about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of each side of the dough to create a border.  3 Sprinkle the dough with the cheese, leaving the borders uncovered. In a bowl, toss together the leeks, mushrooms, and 3 tablespoons of the oil, and season with salt and pepper. Spread the mixture over the cheese. Brush the borders with the egg mixture. Bake for 10 minutes.  4 In a bowl, toss together the haricots verts and the remaining 1½ tablespoons oil, and season with salt and pepper. Place in a single layer on the pan next to the tart. Continue baking until the tart is golden brown and the haricots verts are fork-tender, about 15 minutes longer. During the last 5 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the hazelnuts over the haricots verts.  5 Let the tart cool slightly, then cut into slices and serve the haricots verts on the side.

To me, the most important aspects of a cookbook are: "Do the recipes taste delicious?" and "Is the recipe successful?" (i.e. cook times are correct, directions are appropriate). This cookbook accomplishes both.I've read plenty of various cookbook reviews which talk about how pretty the pictures are, or how the reviewer thinks the recipes look so delicious, but you can tell they haven't cooked any recipes yet. Well, I have.So far I've made:Dijon-Rosemary Chicken Thighs with Maple-Glazed PumpkinChicken Drumsticks with Green Olives &: Cipollini OnionsSpicy Asian Chicken Drumettes with Broccoli & Spiced WalnutsMexican Stuffed Peppers with Chipotle Sweet PotatoesSkirt Steak with Smoky Compound Butter & Blistered Shisito PeppersPersian Stuffed Acorn Squash with Ground Lamb & PomegranateAhi Tuna Nicoise Salad with Olive Oil-Dill AioliGarlicky Shrimp with Asparagus Fries & Meyer Lemon AioliSalmon Provencal with Fingerling Potatoes & Cherry TomatoesIn each case, the recipes were delicious. All are keepers and in rotation. Also, cooking on sheet pan is just plain easier. There's less clean up involved, less prep work and you don't dirty your stovetop. The dishes come together pretty quickly and cooking times aren't too long.Because everything I've made so far has been great I have a lot of confidence that the recipes I haven't tried yet will also be delicious.

My favorite cookbook at the moment!! To prepare the quantity I need for my family, I use 2 sheet pans... one for meat & one for veggies. I've always used sheet pans for making dinner so this is a familiar process. I'm cooking a lot of the same entrees, but with a fresh approach using new & different ingredient combinations. Clean up is a breeze!! This book was a suggested item from Amazon. SO happy I purchased it!!

I really love sheet pan dishes and these are wonderful. No, i did not get a discount for buying this book for a review. I paid full price for this book on Amazon. I have tried several of the recipes and they all have been really, really good and very easy. Last night I made the Spicy Asian Chicken Drumettes with Broccoli & Spiced Walnuts...I did use a family pack of chicken legs instead and twice as much broccoli and doubled the marinade. It was very good, I especially liked the broccoli. I made the Roasted Chicken with Giant Croutons, Sweet Potatoes and Arugula, used more arugula but this is excellent! Pork Chops with Apricots, (did not use the apricots cause they are not in season) Red Cabbage & Blue Cheese was also excellent, my husband really loved the cabbage and he is not fond of cabbage. Tonight I am doing half a recipe...I am only using the garlicky shrimp recipe and then doing my own vegetables. I have been making these meals low carb because that is my new eating plan for the year. These are all meal recipes, no desserts and I am glad. It works perfectly for me. Chapters are meat, seafood and vegetables. The book is 111 pages including the index. There are quite a few color pictures. Eventually i will get through most of these recipes including dishes that are not on my eating list at the moment. I think it is money well spent.

I'm a 72 year old woman, who has enjoyed cooking all my life. At my age, I still want to cook good food, but without so much work. This book is fantastic. It provides recipes for low labor, delicious, easy-clean-up meals. I not only use it a lot, but have given several additional copies to enthusiastic friends.

I should know better than to buy a cookbook sight unseen. The reviews were so promising, but it is not a great cookbook for busy people as it promised. The recipes are really complicated. If you want really fancy meals that take a long time to prepare, but cook on one sheetpan, this is your book. I found two recipes in the entire book that my family would eat and that I had time to prepare. Bon appetit!

I love this book. I bought one for myself and then bought 2 more for my daughters. Love the recipes and really appreciate the pictures. For me, a good cook book includes lots of pictures, and this one has a lot. I don't usually follow directions exactly but love to wade through cook books to get ideas on combinations of spices and methods for cooking something in a new and tasty way. I love this book because of the "sheet pan" method of cooking some fantastic recipes. Easy, clean, one pan cooking works for me. Give it a try.

I have a friend at work that suffers from ADHD and this book has a chapter on the workplace so I figured it would help me help her, and it did. It offers several tips and suggestions to help manage the disability and live a happier life.The tip about the "do not disturb sign" would make a great gift idea for the gal at work. It's a handy guide that is easy to read, the information was right to the point and it even mentioned some web sites for additional resources.

This book was exactly what I was looking for! I read it in one day, because I had a challenge to focus on certain things lately. A friend of mine has adult adhd, so I wanted to know if thats the case for me as well. This guide explains the symptoms of adult adhd very well, so that you get a clue if you have it or not. Furthermore the author provides valuable advice on how to deal with adult adhd. What I liked most were the little summaries at the end of each chapter.

The book provides a good understanding of ADHD. My mother is suffering from the issue since last 1 year and it encouraged me to purchase this book. It’s a very nice guide to ADHD and it tells how to manage it effectively. It’s highly recommended from my side.

Nice large print and to the point. I got this book for my boyfriend to help me understand him and his plight with ADHD. I thought it was well put together for a person with differculties maintaining focus. He has been reading it also.

Wow. Very informative book. Sometimes we forget that ADHD is no only a child's problem. Millions of adults have it but we tend to associate it more with Children. The books gives some signs on what to look for to see if an Adult has it. It gives you ways to find out if you do have, and suggestions to live with and move beyond it. Very detailed book.

This is just a brief superficial repeat of the most elementary basics. Any free Google website would give the same information and more for free.

This book gives good advice on tactics to cope with ADHD. If you are unfamiliar this book is a good primer.

Glenn J. Kashurba, M.D., is a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has lived and worked in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, for 14 years. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at three medical schools: The University of Pittsburgh, Allegheny University of the Health Sciences and MCP Hahnemann University. Dr. Kashurba advocates nationally for children and their families through the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). He is the Co-Chair of AACAP' s Rural Psychiatry Committee and a member of the Committee on Residential Treatment. Dr. Kashurba also serves on AACAP's Work Group on Consumer Issues, which writes and updates the popular series Facts for Families. Courage After The Crash "The definitive chronicle of the aftermath of the United Flight 93" by: Glenn J. Kashurba, M.D.Preface... I had the great privilege and honor to lend some small bit of support to a group of incredibly strong and wonderful people, the families of the heroes of Flight 93. As we rode in the first set of buses to the crash site on Monday, September 17, 2001, those amazing people were already expressing their thanks to the citizens of Somerset County. Despite all of their grief, amidst the apprehension of seeing the crash site that claimed the lives of their loved ones, they kept repeating the mantra, "I hope the people here know how much we appreciate what they have done." This book is a thank you to all of the thousands of people, who in ways big and small, helped in the aftermath of the crash. At the same time, many Somerset County residents expressed to me their profound thanks towards the heroes for giving their lives to prevent an even greater tragedy. As the father of three children attending school less than sixty seconds airtime from the crash site, I understand that feeling. This book is meant to memorialize the courage of the heroes and the strength of their families. Those of us who visited the crash site with another group of families on Thursday, September 20, 2001, witnessed a courageous incident that inspired the cover of this book. The following description of that event is excerpted from an article that I wrote for the AACAP News and is reprinted with that publication's permission. On a wet, grey day, a 5-year-old was kneeling in her dress at the crash site. She had suddenly become intensely interested in playing with the gravel. Her mother knelt down next to her. Gently stroking her hair, she asked, "What are you doing?" "I'm making a heart. Daddy always likes when I make him hearts." Mother silently began to cry again. She kept on working and furrowed a rather sturdy heart in the gravel. Temporarily satisfied, she stopped and began to look around. She spied the flowers that were entwined within the long expanse of fluorescent orange mesh fence that separated our viewing area from the September meadows that stretched 200 yards down a slope to the crater and charred trees. She industriously collected flowers and returned to her creation. The stones were soon overlain with blossoms. She was satisfied. Later, her nearly-adult brothers knelt in the gravel with her, arms entwined on shoulders, weeping. The legacy of a heroic father. I thought of many ways to draw incredibly insightful psychiatric conclusions from this work. However, I settled on just being a witness for this article. Sometimes that can be our greatest function. This book is meant to stand witness to the horror inflicted by evil and the resilience and hope that comes from good. Flight 93 crashed in a rural area. Yet in less than forty-eight hours an incredible effort created a city to perform a multitude of functions. Several weeks later that city no longer existed. Several months later, as I stood at the temporary memorial, I had a difficult time even recollecting where it all took place. Memories fade very quickly, especially of places that no longer exist. This book is meant to serve as a permanent record of what happened in the aftermath, how it happened, and who was involved. Many people have noted to me that the Shanksville crash, at times, seemed like a footnote to the national media. Given the higher death tolls and the proximity of the national media to New York City and Washington D.C., this is understandable. But if Flight 93 did not crash here, a far greater tragedy may have occurred. The first battle of the war on terrorism did not take place in Afghanistan, it took place in the skies over Pennsylvania. This book is meant to help people remember that. It is also meant to serve as a historical heirloom of a time that changed Somerset County and America forever. This book is an oral and pictorial chronicle. The accounts have been edited from nearly two thousand pages of raw transcription. I have attempted to concentrate the most essential information into a form that was sufficiently literary, yet still true to the speaker's oral style. Grammatical correctness was often sacrificed to achieve conversational fidelity. These accounts are memories and may not be entirely factually accurate. To clarify certain historical points or definitions, I have included fact boxes that contain previously verified or published information. The index of photo credits appears at the end of this book. Professional photographers such as Dave Breen, Mike Fabos of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Somerset Daily American staff, Seven Springs Mountain Resort Public Relations Department, and Moreen E. Ishikawa of the White House Photography staff kindly donated photos. Amateur photographers under less than ideal conditions, shot the majority. Many photos kindly contributed by Rick Lohr, Director of the Somerset County Emergency Management Agency, were digital photos shot with inexpensive cameras. Their purpose was to document what occurred at the crash site. Although some of those photos may not be artistic, they are some of a very limited number of photographic images of a place that no longer exists. Most of the photographs have not been published previously and none have been sold elsewhere. No one received any payment for their account or photos. Out of respect for the heroes' families, I have opted to avoid graphic descriptions or photos. The term human remains is generally used without elaboration. Geographic locations are in Pennsylvania unless otherwise noted. I will donate all of my author's royalties to September 11 or children's related charities. SAJ Publishing will also donate all of its net proceeds to similar charities.

I like the idea of this book, getting down to the actual people told by one of their own.I wish the author would have explained the pictures...would have been very helpful.so, I'm glad I bought it over all

So now I ask myself how I would react if the Flight 93 crash had happened in San Diego where I live. How would you react if Flight 93 crashed in your community? We will not know, because this type of plane crash WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN.165 miles north west of Washington D.C. on 9/11, Somerset Pa, took the blow of the Flight 93 plane crash. Maybe 15 to 20 seconds more air time, school children, home dwellers, or some people playing golf could have been killed by hijacker terrorists. This book describes how the people of Somerset reacted to that.A weedy field and wooded area in Somerset County is now the resting place of 40 people who fought back against 4 of the terrorists on 9/11. I know now after reading Dr. Kashurba's book, how alot of the people who live in and around Somerset, especially those in Shanksville and Lambertsville, handeled the aftermath of this particular crash and how they helped families of the Flight 93 passengers and crew turned heroes.

I gave it 5 stars because Kate Middleton had great commentary mixed in with the various cities and site along the river, You got a sense that she loved the river and all it stood for in history of people and activity.

great book, used it to plan photographic trips along the Mississippi, full of good information

If you plan to travel the picturesque Great River Road through western Wisconsin, this book should be an essential part of your travel planning. It provides information on nearly every town or city along the way. Each chapter is broken into the towns included in that chapter. The book describes attractions, parks, historic sites, recreatioinal places and more. It is easily understood and gives the traveller some insight to the location next on their journey. It also provides detailed histories of certain cities or regions that gives further details that lend perspective to one's journey.The book is organized geographically north to south. Volume One covers St. Paul, Minnesota to Dubuque, Iowa or about 250 miles of the Great River Road. The river road follows the Mississippi River that includes Lake Pepin, Wabasha and Winona on the Minnesota side and Pepin, La Crosse, Prairie du Chein on the Wisconsin side. This route is very scenic and will take several hours to see all there is to do.If the book has one drawback it is the lack of color maps and photos, but this does not detract from the book's overall effectiveness. It is easily read and you can prepare for the next town as you leave the place you are currently at. But don't just go town to town as there are many other stopos along the way.So pack the car, pack a lunch (or buy lunch along the way), and bring this book. Your journey awaits.

This books adds great travel tips and interest to my drive along the Mississippi. The author does a nice job of describing the areas and adds to the adventure of road travel.
